A 41-year-old Owensboro man has been arrested after authorities say he was caught attempting to ship drugs.

Investigation and Arrest

On Friday, April 24, at approximately 3:50 p.m., detectives from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit arrested Ryan Lehan while he was attempting to ship drugs at a local business. This arrest followed a months-long investigation that began after the community alerted authorities to Lehan’s involvement in drug trafficking.

Controlled Purchases and Surveillance

During the investigation, detectives made multiple controlled purchases of anabolic steroids from Lehan. On Friday, surveillance led authorities to a shipping business on Southtown Boulevard in Owensboro, where they approached Lehan to arrest him for the prior controlled buys.

During the arrest, detectives discovered additional suspected anabolic steroids in Lehan’s possession that he was preparing to ship.

Search Warrants and Additional Evidence

After his arrest, detectives obtained search warrants for Lehan’s vehicle and his apartment located in the 2100 block of Carpenter Drive in Owensboro. During the execution of these warrants, additional evidence was recovered, including a cooler in the vehicle containing suspected anabolic steroids and syringes.

In his apartment, detectives found suspected anabolic steroids, packaging vials, labels, printed instructions on steroid production, scales, syringes, and a loaded shotgun and rifle.

Charges and Ongoing Investigation

Lehan was arrested and taken to the Daviess County Detention Center, where he was charged with:

  • Trafficking a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are likely.
