Caregivers suspected of stealing from elderly Jackson County residents

Christine Short, a 54-year-old woman from London, was arrested on Friday, April 24, after allegedly stealing money from an elderly resident’s home in Jackson County.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to Chestnut Flat Road at 8:23 p.m. after a report of a woman taking money from the home.

Alleged Theft Caught on Camera

Short, who had been acting as a caregiver for the elderly resident, was caught on camera allegedly stealing between $500 and $600 in loose change and other currency.

Deputies located Short at the scene and conducted an investigation. As a result, she was charged with knowingly exploiting an adult for over $300.

Charges and Bond Information

Short is being held in the Jackson County Detention Center on a $5,000 cash bond, and her court dates have not yet been scheduled.
