A serious criminal case in Barren County has reached a major development, as a man has admitted guilt in multiple sexual offence charges involving a minor. The case has drawn attention due to the severity of the crimes and the potential prison sentence.
Man Pleads Guilty in Serious Case
In Barren County, 33-year-old Kyle Ankney has pleaded guilty to several serious charges. These include first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, and incest.
Court records from the Barren County Circuit Court confirm that the guilty plea was entered on March 25. All charges involved a minor under the age of 12 and were marked as a “continuous course of conduct,” meaning the incidents happened more than once over a period of time.
Recommended Sentence and Legal Outcome
As part of the plea agreement, the prosecution has recommended:
- A prison sentence of 22 years
- A $1,000 fine
- 5 years of conditional discharge after release
- A sexual offender risk assessment
The final sentencing is scheduled for June 24 at 9 a.m. Until then, Ankney will remain in custody.
Details of the Investigation
The case began after a report was made involving a minor. Authorities say the child was interviewed by the Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center.
According to official documents, the minor stated that the abuse took place over approximately five months at or near a residence in southern Barren County.
Arrest and Indictment
Ankney was arrested on July 9, 2025, at the Barren County Courthouse by sheriff’s deputies.
Following the investigation, a grand jury formally indicted him in August 2025, allowing the case to move forward in court.
