Police in Bell County are warning residents about a person pretending to be a law enforcement officer.
Fake officer alert
The Bell County Sheriff’s Department said it has received several complaints about someone posing as a deputy.
According to officials, the individual is reportedly driving an unmarked white Crown Victoria along Highway 92.
No unmarked patrol units
Authorities have made it clear that there are currently no deputies patrolling in unmarked vehicles in the area. This means anyone claiming to be law enforcement in such a vehicle should be treated with caution.
What residents should do
The sheriff’s department is asking the public to stay alert and report any suspicious encounters. If you come across this individual:
- Do not stop unless you feel safe
- Try to note details of the vehicle
- Contact authorities immediately
