Support builds for Corbin child fighting cancer

Published On:

A family in Corbin is receiving strong support from the community after their young daughter was diagnosed with a serious and rare illness. People have come together to help them during this difficult time.

What Happened

Millee Kate Daugherty has been diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), an aggressive form of brain cancer that mainly affects children.

Her parents, Allyson Daugherty and Samuel Daugherty, received the diagnosis on April 16.

Community Support

After the news, the family received a large amount of support from the community. A GoFundMe page was created to help them manage expenses during treatment.

The fundraiser is meant to cover:

  • Medical treatment costs
  • Travel expenses
  • Meals and daily needs
  • Other unexpected costs

As of this week, more than $65,000 has been raised, close to the $70,000 goal.

Why This Matters

DIPG is a rare and serious condition, and treatment can be emotionally and financially challenging for families. Community support can make a big difference by reducing financial stress and allowing families to focus on care.
