One person died in an automobile crash in Kentucky

A 73-year-old man from Corbin died in a road accident in Knox County on April 29, according to officials.

Crash Details

The Knox County Sheriff’s Department said the crash happened around 7 p.m. on KY-25 East near Higgins Road after 911 calls reported a two-vehicle collision.

What Happened

Investigators said Alfred Smith, 73, was trying to turn left from KY-25 onto KY-1232 when he moved into the path of a southbound vehicle.

The other vehicle, a 2025 Chevy Silverado, was driven by Cody Cox, 29. The two vehicles collided and stopped near the side of the road.

Casualty and Response

Smith was taken to Baptist Health Corbin, where he was declared dead by the Whitley County Coroner’s Office.

Cox’s condition has not been shared.

Investigation Status

Officials said drugs and alcohol are not believed to be involved. The case is still under investigation.
