A tragic road incident in Frankfort has led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man after a woman lost her life. Police say the case involves not just a fatal crash but also an attempt to mislead investigators.
Man Arrested After Fatal Crash
The Frankfort Police Department has arrested Tyler Wayne Couch, 25, in connection with a deadly accident. He is facing a charge of second-degree manslaughter.
The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Carey Covington, who died after being hit by a vehicle.
What Happened on U.S. 127
According to the arrest report:
- The incident happened around 7:30 PM on Monday
- Couch was driving a 2003 GMC Yukon on U.S. 127 South
- He allegedly struck Carey Covington with the vehicle
- The impact caused her death
This has been treated as a serious case due to the nature of the incident and what followed after.
Driver Left the Scene
Police say that after hitting the victim, Couch did not stop to help. Instead:
- He drove away from the scene
- He went to the parking lot of My Guadalajara restaurant
- He did not provide any assistance to the victim
Leaving the scene of an accident, especially one involving injury or death, is considered a serious offence.
Arrest Made the Next Day
Authorities arrested Couch the next morning at around 10:30 AM. He was found at the same restaurant parking lot mentioned in the report.
Attempt to Mislead Police
Investigators also said that Couch tried to shift the blame onto someone else. According to police:
- He told officers that another vehicle had hit the victim
- This statement was found to be false
- He is accused of knowingly giving wrong information
Providing false details during an investigation can lead to additional legal trouble.
