The 18th annual Fish Fest will be held this Saturday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Middlesboro City Parking Lot. This family-friendly event, which has become a local tradition, offers a day of fishing, fun, and community engagement for all ages.
Fishing for All Ages
The event is hosted by County Attorney Chris Douglas and Tim Hoskins from Pure Fishing, continuing the legacy started by former County Attorney Neal Ward. Each year, hundreds of rainbow trout are stocked into a section of the canal, which is netted off to keep the fish in place for the event. Children 15 and under are invited to fish for free, with rods, reels, and various baits provided for them to use.
Special Attractions
This year, visitors will have the unique opportunity to see The General, the largest typical whitetail deer ever recorded, on display. Jimmy Rose Taxidermy will showcase this incredible specimen, and attendees will be able to take photographs with the deer in the parking lot.
Community Support
Lunch will be provided by the Tri-State Veterans group, and the event is made possible through the support of the Bell County Fiscal Court, City of Middlesboro, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, A-1 Septic, and Tri-State Veterans.
Event Guidelines
While adults are welcome to accompany youth anglers, they are not permitted to fish themselves, allowing the young participants to enjoy the full experience.
Don’t miss out on this beloved annual event that brings the community together for a day of outdoor fun and family bonding.
