Court records state that in March 2024, Melton allegedly held a knife to his wife’s throat while she was holding their infant child and restrained her.

Further allegations include:

  • Abuse of a child under 12 on two occasions in June and August 2025
  • Stalking and again restraining his wife later in 2025

Detective Jay Picard presented the case to a grand jury on April 8.

On April 17, Melton was indicted on multiple charges, including:

  • Two counts of first-degree child abuse (12 or under)
  • Two counts of kidnapping (adult)
  • One count of stalking (adult)
  • One count of first-degree wanton endangerment

Arrest and Court Date

Melton was arrested without incident and taken to the Laurel County Detention Center. He was later released after posting a $200,000 cash bond on April 16.

He is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on May 7.
