A man from Kentucky is charged with murder after allegedly fatally stabbing his girlfriend

A man from Kentucky has been arrested after a deadly stabbing in Harlan County.

What Happened

According to state police, the incident took place just before 7 p.m. on April 25 at a home along Kentucky Highway 72.

Trooper Shane Jacobs said Michael Howard, 36, is accused of stabbing his girlfriend, Mary Clayborn, 50, in the chest and neck.

Victim and Medical Update

Clayborn was taken to Harlan ARH Hospital, where she later died from her injuries. An autopsy is scheduled at the state medical examiner’s office.

Arrest and Charges

Police said Howard cooperated with officers at the scene and was arrested without any issues. He has been charged with murder.

Custody Status

Howard is currently being held at the Harlan County jail with a $1 million bond. No court date has been set yet.

Investigation Ongoing

Authorities are continuing to investigate the case.
