A serious case from Kentucky has shocked the local community, as a man faces multiple violent charges, including kidnapping and assault. The incident involves disturbing details and follows earlier allegations linked to the same victim, making the case even more concerning.
Man Arrested in Kidnapping Case
In Knox County, 38-year-old Shawn Asher has been taken into custody and is currently being held at the Knox County Detention Center.
According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, Asher was arrested on Thursday after reports that he allegedly kidnapped a woman in the 8000 block of Kentucky Highway 1232 in Corbin.
Details of the Alleged Incident
Authorities say Asher allegedly broke into the victim’s home and waited for her to return. When she arrived, an argument reportedly started between them.
Police claim that:
- He forced the victim into her Jeep Grand Cherokee
- He made her leave her phone behind
- He drove away with her against her will
Later that evening, around 6 p.m., officers received a tip that Asher was travelling south on Kentucky Highway 11 near Barbourville with the victim inside the vehicle.
Quick Action by Law Enforcement
Multiple agencies worked together, including:
- Knox County Sheriff’s Department
- Barbourville Police Department
- U.S. Marshal’s Service Central Kentucky Fugitive Task Force
They located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Asher was arrested without any resistance, and the victim was found with minor injuries.

According to earlier reports:
- The victim was drinking coffee at home when Asher claimed he had added methamphetamine to it
- Needles were allegedly placed in her vehicle
- Medical tests later confirmed the presence of methamphetamine in her system
In February, Asher was arrested and charged with second-degree assault related to that incident. However, he was later released on bond.

- Kidnapping of an adult
- Second-degree burglary
- Fourth-degree assault (domestic violence)

He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond, and the investigation is still ongoing.
