Two people died in a crash on Saturday morning that temporarily shut down part of I-75 in Campbell County, according to a preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).

Crash Details

The crash occurred near mile marker 161 when 21-year-old Jesus Eduardo Silva Silva and 20-year-old Denise Andrade were driving south in a GMC Sierra. The vehicle struck the back of a tractor-trailer that was parked on the right shoulder of the road.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) reported the incident around 9 a.m. There was no one inside the tractor-trailer at the time of the crash, and neither Silva nor Andrade was wearing a seatbelt, according to the THP report.

Fatalities

Both Silva and Andrade were killed in the crash. The incident caused significant traffic disruption, with part of I-75 being closed for several hours as authorities worked at the scene.
