A local man faces multiple drug and traffic-related charges after London Police officers discovered methamphetamine during a late-night traffic stop on April 20, 2026.
Traffic Stop and Arrest
London Police Officer Noah Ritchie initiated the stop at approximately 10:38 p.m. after observing 43-year-old Samuel Cassise III, of London, KY, commit multiple traffic violations. Upon contact, it was determined that Cassise was operating the vehicle on a suspended license.
Drug Discovery and K9 Search
During the administrative portion of the stop, K9 Officer Jordan Childers arrived and deployed K9 FIRE for an open-air sniff, which resulted in a positive alert for narcotics.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a black plastic container holding hypodermic needles, a glass pipe, and a clear plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance. Officers also determined that Cassise was operating the vehicle while impaired.
Charges and Bond Information
Cassise was arrested and transported to the Laurel County Detention Center, where he is currently being held on a $7,500 cash bond.
Samuel Cassise faces the following charges:
- First-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a substance
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Operating on a suspended license and various traffic offenses
Cassise’s court date is scheduled for April 28, 2026. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
