The Tampa Bay Rays celebrated their return to Tropicana Field with a 6-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Monday. The win came after a long absence of 561 days, as the Rays had played the previous season at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa due to damage caused by Hurricane Milton.
The game featured homers from Cedric Mullins, Jonathan Aranda, and Junior Caminero, adding to the excitement in front of a sellout crowd of 25,114. Shane McClanahan, who made his first start at the Trop since July 2023, pitched four innings, allowing two runs while striking out five.
Kevin Kelly earned the win, and Bryan Baker closed the game for his first save, despite allowing a solo home run in the ninth.

In Cleveland, the Kansas City Royals defeated the Cleveland Guardians 4-2. Carter Jensen and Jonathan India homered, and Michael Wacha pitched seven solid innings, allowing just one run.
José Ramírez of Cleveland became the team’s all-time leader in hits, surpassing a record that had stood for nearly 108 years. However, the Guardians have now lost two of their last three games.

In Miami, the Cincinnati Reds shut out the Miami Marlins 2-0. Tyler Stephenson homered, and Brandon Williamson pitched 6 2/3 hitless innings to earn the win. The Reds’ pitchers combined for the shutout, and despite a slow start to the season offensively, they’ve now won four straight games.

In Pittsburgh, the San Diego Padres defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-0. Germán Márquez pitched five effective innings to earn the win, striking out four and walking one. His solid performance was complemented by Fernando Tatis Jr., who threw out a runner at the plate to keep the Pirates from scoring.

In Washington, the Washington Nationals mounted a late rally to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 9-6. A six-run eighth inning, highlighted by home runs from James Wood, Brady House, and CJ Abrams, helped Washington secure the victory. Zack Littell earned the win, and Cionel Pérez closed the game in the ninth.

The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Chicago White Sox 2-1 thanks to a strong performance from spot starter Brandon Young, who pitched five scoreless innings. Gunnar Henderson hit a home run, and Ryan Helsley secured his third save despite a tense ninth inning. The White Sox had a chance to tie the game in the final frame but couldn’t capitalize on a bases-loaded situation.
Twins 7, Tigers 7
The Minnesota Twins won 7-1 against the Detroit Tigers with a strong performance from Luke Keaschall, who hit a two-run homer.
