Pratt, a highly regarded shortstop prospect for the Milwaukee Brewers, has signed a $50.75 million, eight-year contract with the team, which includes escalators that could potentially raise the value by $10 million if he consistently finishes high in MVP voting. The contract also includes two team options for additional years.

Contract Details

Pratt, who has yet to play in the major leagues, received a $3 million signing bonus as part of the deal. His salary structure is as follows:

  • 2026: $2.5 million
  • 2027: $3.5 million
  • 2028 & 2029: $4 million each
  • 2030 & 2031: $5 million each
  • 2032: $10.75 million
  • 2033: $13 million

Additionally, the Brewers have options for 2034 and 2035, each valued at $15 million. These options can increase by up to $5 million depending on Pratt’s MVP finishes, with specific bonuses for MVP rankings:

  • $2 million for winning the MVP
  • $1 million for finishing second or third
  • $500,000 for fourth or fifth
  • $250,000 for sixth through tenth in MVP voting

Pratt will also earn $200,000 for each All-Star selection or Gold Glove award.

Career Highlights and Development

Pratt was drafted in the sixth round of the 2023 amateur draft and received an initial $1.35 million signing bonus. He is currently rated as the No. 51 prospect by Baseball America and No. 62 by MLB Pipeline.

Last season, playing for Double-A Biloxi, Pratt hit .238 with a .343 on-base percentage, eight home runs, 62 RBIs, 31 stolen bases, and 67 walks in 120 games.

Looking Ahead

With his new contract, Pratt has a bright future ahead as part of the Brewers’ long-term plans. His performance in the upcoming seasons could further enhance the value of his deal, especially if he reaches the MVP thresholds and establishes himself as a key player for the Brewers.
