Cuban slugger Pedro Revilla is looking for a new home.
According to Francys Romero, the versatile Revilla is leaving the Cuban Baseball Federation. Revilla is heading to the Dominican Republic, where he will look to establish residency and look to sign with a major league club.
Pedro Revilla could be interesting MLB prospect
Revilla had spent the past two seasons playing in Japan. He was unable to establish himself with the Chunichi Dragons, with 13 hits, including a homer and two doubles, in his 66 plate appearances, drawing two walks while striking out 30 times. Although he spent the entire 2023 season on the Dragons’ minor league squad, he was one of the premier sluggers during his time in the Cuban National Series. He led the league with 26 homers in 2021-22 before signing with the Dragons.
It is possible that Revilla will interest a major league team. He does have impressive power potential despite his swing and miss tendencies. His defensive versatility would make him an interesting prospect as well, as Revilla has spent time at first, in the outfield, and behind the plate.
Revilla will need a lot of work. He is also going to be 25 years old next year, making him older for such a project. However, he does have the potential that could entice a major league organization. His power and ability to play multiple positions may be enough to get a chance in some team’s system.
Pedro Revilla is reportedly leaving the Cuban Baseball Federation with an eye towards the majors. He needs work, but could be an interesting prospect.
