Los Angeles Angels willing to trade Mike Trout

The Los Angeles Angels could see some major changes this offseason.

Shohei Ohtani is slated to be a free agent and has openly stated that he wants to play for a winner. Mike Trout had requested to speak to the Angels this offseason regarding their direction going forward. That conversation could result in the face of their franchise moving on, as Bob Nightengale stated that the Angels would be open to trading Trout if requested.

Los Angeles Angels losing ways could cost them franchise great

Trout has been one of the best players in the game when healthy. A three time MVP and 11 time All Star, he has posted a lifetime .301/.412/582 batting line with 368 homers in his 6521 plate appearances entering Sunday. However, despite his greatness, the Angels have been to the postseason once in his career.

He is 32 years old now. Injuries have taken a toll over the past few years as he has 237 of the Angels 477 games since the start of 2021. He does not have the same speed he once had. His trade value has decreased due to those injuries, but there is no question that he can still make an impact when on the diamond.

It also makes sense for the two to part ways. If the Angels are going to contend going forward, they need to undergo a rebuilding process. Even with his large contract, Trout is their best trade chip. The Angels will need to eat a portion of that deal, but it is their best chance to get pieces for the future. Maybe then, they can break the cycle of mediocrity they are stuck in.

Changes are coming to the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels would be willing to trade Mike Trout if he requests a deal.
