The CTBC Brothers were hoping to repeat as CPBL champions again this year. Their hopes may have taken a hit given the news surrounding Shawn Morimando.
Morimando lasted for one outing with the Brothers this season before elbow woes raised their head. He is now set to miss the rest of the season due to surgery, although the Brothers extended his contract through 2024 to keep him on hand.

The Brothers are not sitting around and lamenting their losses. CPBL Stats further reported that the Brothers are close to signing a new foreign pitcher, a righty who is currently pitching elsewhere at this time.
That does not mean that Morimando is going to be easily replaced. He had posted a 2.56 ERA and a 1.193 WHiP over his 91.1 innings for the Brothers, striking out 89 batters with 29 walks, allowing just two homers. He paired with Best Ten pitcher Jose De Paula to give the Brothers an impressive 1-2 punch atop the rotation.
Meanwhile, the Brothers have struggled this season. They have a 5-8 record entering Thursday and are currently last in the league. De Paula has been a shell of himself thus far, giving up baserunners while struggling to strike anyone out. Anyone they bring in will have big shoes, and high expectations, to fill. It is also possible that this signing could be an audition for 2024; the Brothers will need someone to pair with Morimando next year as well.
The CTBC Brothers lost a significant piece in Shawn Morimando. At least they will have him back for the 2024 campaign.
