Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker fan of Dominican WBC squad

Count Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker as a fan of the Dominican National Team heading into the World Baseball Classic.

The Braves and the Dominican squad played an exhibition match on Wednesday ahead of the WBC. Considering that the Dominican squad fielded the likes of Manny Machado, Julio Rodriguez, and Rafael Devers while the Braves had their ‘B’ team, it is not a surprise that the game was a 9-0 laugher for the Dominicans.

Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker keeps momento from exhibition

The quality of the Dominican roster was not lost on Snitker. According to Mark Bowman from MLB.com, the Braves’ manager kept the lineup card from Wednesday’s game. He is hoping to have the players sign it, especially as he feels several of those players could end up in the Hall of Fame.

It is easy to lose sight of the fact that the players and coaches can be fans as well. There is the feeling that, since this is their profession, they will not be as easily impressed. After all, they are around these players constantly – the luster and extraordinary can become routine. Even watching the greatest players of their generation can seem commonplace due to that familiarity, especially for those playing against them.

That is not the case with Snitker. Perhaps it is due to the decades he spent in the minors before getting his chance in Atlanta, giving him a different perspective as it pertains to the game. But he has not lost his ability to appreciate the moment and what he is seeing before him. That includes the impressive roster that the Dominican National Team will bring into the WBC.
